How Does CNC Centerless Grinder Work?

 

The MX-L600 high-precision CNC centerless grinder does not require centers or chucks to hold the workpiece. The workpiece is placed between the grinding wheel (grinding wheel), guide wheel, and support plate:
• Grinding wheel: Rotates at high speed, responsible for removing material.
• Guide wheel: Rotates at a relatively slower speed, responsible for driving the workpiece rotation and controlling its feed speed (through grinding mode) or positioning (infeed grinding mode).
• Support plate: Supports the workpiece and maintains its center height.
• CNC advantages: The CNC system can precisely control the guide wheel speed, grinding wheel feed, dresser movement trajectory, and the linkage of each axis, thereby achieving complex contour grinding or high-precision dimensional control.

 

Main Processing Methods

Through-feed Grinding
• Suitable for long, straight cylindrical workpieces (such as pins and piston rods).
• The workpiece enters from one end, passes through the grinding zone, and exits from the other end.
• CNC controls the guide wheel angle and speed to adjust the feed rate, suitable for mass production.

 

In-feed/Plunge Grinding
• Suitable for workpieces with stepped, tapered, or non-cylindrical contours.
• The workpiece's axial position is fixed, and the grinding wheel radially cuts in for grinding.
• CNC can control multi-axis linkage, allowing for the grinding of complex-shaped surfaces.
